There’s loads of information about the nitty gritty of what to eat when you’re trying to lose weight on a fast diet. We know that we should also shift ourselves around more and exercise as well as watching what we eat…
Some very recent, up to date research has shown that a very simple tip when you’re out shopping for groceries can help in fighting the flab and also save you money… Hard to believe? Well, I’ve tried it and got friends to try it also and this tip really has an impact on what you buy…
So, what is this way of losing weight and also saving quite a lot of money into the bargain? It’s really important because these days we’re all trying to cut back because of rising prices… Some of us are in danger of losing our jobs due to the cut backs and the financial climate… We’re also trying to pay off debts that we’ve built up during the good times…
There’s no doubt about it, times are hard… Every little bit of saving can help and if it also helps us lose weight, feel better and make us healthier then all the better.
One of the things that is very difficult when we are on our fast diet is to avoid buying those foods in the supermarket that we know are bad for us. They’re full of fat or full of sugar, or even worse, full of both… Some of these purchases are simply habit. We like our comfort foods – nibbles while we watch TV or if we’re feeling a bit fed up…
The supermarket people are very clever. They know exactly how shoppers’ minds work. They know how to present their goods so that we’re tempted and can’t resist adding those things that we shouldn’t be eating into our purchases.
So, what is this way of keeping up with your fast diet and also keeping hold of more of your money?
Well, the research has shown that if you leave your credit cards at home and only take cash when you shop then you not only spend less but you’re also a great deal more careful about what you buy. In fact, those paying cash for their groceries buy far less sugary and fatty foods… The research checked the shopping habits of 1000 men and women over a period of 6 months. Methods of payment were checked. Cash was used as often as credit cards.
The shopping paid for with credit cards tended to be full of far less healthy foods – biscuits, ice cream, crisps/chips. The cash purchasers bought a higher proportion of healthy foods.
Why does this happen? Well, the researchers say that parting with cash leaves a far greater impression on the shopper than handing over a card. The card transaction is more abstract, less real. So, it follows that if the cash transaction is more painful and real then the shopping is done with more care and thought. With cash your impulsive buying urging is more controlled.
So, you can keep your fast diet weight loss going and lose weight at the same time. Ditch your credit cards…
