Swapping Foods to Make Your Fast Diet More Successful…

fastdiet 27 Sep 2010 | : Diet Success

Some foods that you eat or drinks that you drink every day without a second thought can be swapped for alternatives that will make your fast diet more effective and successful…

We just don’t realise the different calorie contents that every day foods contain and the impact those extra calories can have on our efforts to lose weight…

Doing food swaps means that you can have a few ‘naughty foods’ now and then because you can choose the ones that won’t impact negatively on your fast diet…

Roast beef dinner with Yorkshire puddling is a good substantial meal but a reasonable portion is approximately 600 calories, but by having beef casserole with mashed potato and vegetables is less than 400 calories…

You may fancy a bottle of beer (160 calories) but by swapping for a glass of white wine you can save over 50 calories!

Out for a coffee?   Swap a latte (200 calories) for a skinny latte made with skimmed milk and you’ll nearly half the calorie content (120 calories).   You’ll still have your caffeine fix and the taste but reduce your calorie intake.

Save 100 calories by swapping a packet of crisps (290 calories) with a plain popcorn (190 calories).   You could also have a handful of nuts instead of the crisps.  You’ll also reduce your salt intake.

Although you may love biscuits, when you know that a single chocolate chip cookie has a massive 170 calories it may make a banana or apple more attractive with only about 100 calories.  Another problem with biscuits is that they don’t come singly – you buy a packet and who can eat just one chocolate biscuit?  I know I can’t…  So, the easy way is to avoid buying them in the first place…  Difficult when faced with them on the supermarket shelf, I  know but it’s worth the effort and then you don’t have that awful fight with the temptation of knowing they’re only a few feet away in the kitchen cupboard…

If you can swap the foods above for a healthier alternative you can save hundreds of calories every day.  That doesn’t sound a great deal but if you can save 500 calories each day, that’s one pound each week.  And don’t forget that we’re not talking about eating less food here but different food…

So, when you realise you can lose one pound a week with swaps, just think of how much weight you can lose if you cut down on other foods too. Your fast diet will be on track for real success.
